Know someone who might be interested in going fishing but isn't sure?
Free fishing day is July 4, when no one, regardless of age and residency, needs a fishing license to fish in all public waters in North Carolina.

RALEIGH, N.C. (June 20, 2018) — On July 4, the N.C. Wildlife Resources Commission invites anglers and would-be anglers of all ages to go fishing — for free. From 12 a.m. until 11:59 p.m., everyone in North Carolina — resident and non-residents alike — can fish in any public body of water, including coastal waters, without purchasing a fishing license or additional trout fishing privilege.

Although no fishing license is required, all other fishing regulations apply, such as length and daily possession limits, as well as bait and tackle restrictions.

Gearing up for the 2016-2017 TIC Program...

As the classrooms are being prepared for the students to return, so to are the tanks being prepared in our TIC sponsored high schools and middle schools. Fresh water, rocks and filters are being added to the tanks in preparation for the new trout eggs. Each school will receive eggs from a NC trout raising farm supported by NC Wildlife in mid September.

We welcome the addition of Lexington Senior High School to our program this year and we look forward to another successful year for all!
